Hunan Agricultural University (HUNAU), a key provincial university under the co-construction of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Hunan Provincial People's Government,awarded as“National Civilized Campus", is one of the first-class domestic universities in Hunan Province(Class A).Academician Yuan Longping, the father of hybrid rice serves as the honorary president.
The predecessor of HUNAU is Xiuye Academy established in 1903,where such great celebrities as Zhou Zhenlin, Huang Xing, Xu Teli, Mao Zedong were successively employed.In March 1951,Hunan Agricultural College,whose name was an inscription by Chairman Mao Zedong,was established by merging the Agricultural College of Hunan University with Hunan Provincial Xiuye Agricultural and Frestry College (originating from Xiuye Academy).In March 1994,it was renamed Hunan Agricultural University. Owning history over ahundred years, HUNAU striving forward by adhering to the tradition of keening on and devoting to agriculture and fulfilling the mission of strengthening agriculture, has now developed into a united teaching and research university with agronomy as the core and coordinating development of multi-disciplines.Supported by 20 colleges, 1 independent college,1 graduate school and 1 continuing education college, HUNAU enriches its categories ofdisciplines, covering agriculture,engineering, lierature,science,economics,management,law, medicine,pedagogy and art.There are 1 national key discipline, 1 key discipline of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, 3 provincial and national first-class construction disciplines, 7 provincial and national first-class cultivation disciplines and 15 provincial key disciplines in the "12th Five-Year Plan".The ESI disciplines in the field of animal and plant science, agricultural science,environmental (ecology)and chemistry rank among the top 1% in the world.There are 10 post-doctoral research stations,11 first-level disciplines for doctoral degree authorization,23 first-level disciplines for master's degree authorization, and 13 for master's degree authorization categories. It is the first batch of units in China to be authorized to grant master's degrees; Among 80 undergraduate majors,there are 15 national-level first-class undergraduate professional construction sites and 20 first-class undergradute professional construction sites in the province; HUNAU has 30,308 full-time undergraduate students (including 5,947 students in independent colleges) and 5,392 postgraduate students.
1.Bachelor, Master and Doctoral Degree Programs.
High school graduates can apply bachelor degree; bachelors can apply master degree; masters can apply doctoral degree.
Most of the courses of bachelor degree programs are taught in Chinese, so undergraduate students should learn Chinese first. We offer mandarin training.
Some programs offer English-teaching courses.
2. Non-degree Programs 进修生项目
Research scholar should have master degree; general advanced students should have undergone at leasta two-year college study; senior advanced students should have bachelor degree. Anyone interested in Chinese culture and history can apply for short-term programs.

2. Check Qualification
International Exchange and Cooperation Division is responsible for checking the application materials of international students and determining the list of qualified persons for entrance examination according to the checking procedure.
3. Organize Examination
International Exchange and Cooperation Division with Academic Affairs Office and the college concerned organize entrance examinations for undergraduates who have passed the qualification checking. International Exchange and Cooperation Division with Graduate College and the college concerned organize the degree program or the tutors to have entrance examinations for graduate students who have passed the qualification checking.
4. Approval Procedure of Upstream Authorities
The qualified candidates’ documents will be sent to the upstream authorities.
5. Admission
After getting the approval from of Hunan Provincial Education Department, the university will sent Letter of Admission to the qualified students.
6. Apply for Visa
HUNAU will send Notice of Admission, JW202 Form and registration noticeto the students to apply study visa (X visa) in the Chinese Embassy. Arrival date is clear on the Notice of Admission.

Living Facilities and Accommodation
Changsha is characterized by a temperate climate with copious rainfall and four distinct seasons. The annual average temperature is about 17℃, and the lowest one in January generally is about 2℃; the highest one in August generally is about 35℃. The frost-free period extends to 8-10 months.
With a long history and beautiful environment, HUNAU is a perfect place for studying, living and communicating. HUNAU is fully equipped with sports facilities, including basketball court, volleyball court, pingpong court, and so on. The public kitchen is set in the international students’ dormitory where students can cook for themselves. They also can eat at refectory with a cost around 15-30 yuan.
HUNAU provides the exclusive accommodation to international students. The facilities in the dormitory including telephone, Internet connection, desk, wardrobe, air-condition and so on. International students are responsible for their own water and electricity fee by themselves.
